Cape Solander may just be the most dangerous wave on the planet. Even if you successfully negotiate the drop, it's then a high-speed navigational nightmare over a face complete with some huge steps, as it sucks and draws off the reef. It can be carnage – but that's what makes it so compelling.
A few days ago the Cape lit up, along with the rest of the east coast of Australia, thanks to a system ripping through the South Pacific. On the scene was big wave chaser and documentarian Tim Bonython, who dropped these two edits over two days as the crew went to town. It is a few minutes of pure commitment, huge swings and misses and all the unbridled joy that goes along with Cape Solander. Enjoy.
