Surf conditions at 6.55 a.m. on Wednesday 2nd April 2014:
It’s a grey and overcast early morning out there, the fresh offshore wind freshening, the thermometer showing 13 deg C and the surf much smaller than it has been but still a good one to two feet an hour or so ahead of high water.
There’s too much water in the bay for the peak to be breaking properly but there are very pretty walls of water reeling across the back of the Reef.
As the tide drops we should be seeing a pleasant one to two feet of wind hollowed and peeling surf, pretty much all day long, well, until later this afternoon anyway, the wind is forecast to back around to the south west then. But it should start to weaken off by late morning which will allow that swell a bit more push.
So, a grey and damp but mild day lies ahead with very pleasant but quite small surf to glide across. Longboards and Fish might rule today!
Rhys Barfield and Team GB Junior Squad have arrived safely in Ecuador for the ISA World Junior Championships. But he and the rest of the groms are still desperately trying to raise the funds necessary to be there without bankrupting their mums and dads.? Since the mega surf companies aren’t yet embarrassed enough to provide any support for the U.K. Groms, it’s down to everyone else to do it!
There’s only one day left to pledge your support for British surfing’s future! So go to http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/support-teamgb and pay a little back to the kids!
Here’s a clip of Rhys while in Australia a week or two ago… http://vimeo.com/89278068
