I was asked to gaze into my crystal ball and here are my five predictions for the year ahead.
1 - There will be a new ASP World Champion in 2013 and his name will be Jordy Smith.
2 - A bunch of new discoveries around the continent including the unveiling of the new J-Bay: a 2km righthand pointbreak on the East coast of Africa. Yes that is right.
3 - A wave of previously disadvantaged surfers in the lineups of Africa, and then a surge of competitors on the WQS, much like the Brazilians are experiencing now.
4 - The return of the Big Wave Africa Dungeons contest on the new ASP Big Wave World Tour.
5 - More surfers = more shark attacks.
A team of 15 young UK surfers have been selected to surf the ISA Junior Championships at Salinas, Ecuador.
Skeleton Bay providing the implausibly long tunnels for which it is known.
Meet Lydia 14 ft 6 inches (4.4 metres) of great white shark weighing approximately 2000 lbs and the first white shark to be documented at the the Atlantic Ridge.
Paddling the Slave at Mullaghmore, breaking egos and avoiding the vortex.
The Billabong women's team test their skills in some super-sucking Sumbawan tunnels.
