Surf schools, culture, you name it. I’ve been impressed by how totally surfing has been has been embraced by the Dutch.
As we all know, surfing is highly addictive and wherever there are waves in Europe you’ll generally find someone covered in neoprene clutching an ironing board trying to ride the rollers. “There’s a big scene here in Holland. Surf schools, culture, you name it. I’ve been impressed by how totally surfing has been has been embraced by the Dutch. They seem mad for it.” Mikey told us. “What also surprised me was that there were so many waves here in mid-summer. The surfers are super motivated and have overcome the obstacles of freezing winters and infrequent swells to keep themselves topped-up.”
Having left Holland a week back Mikey is deep into filming Episode 3 in Brittany. All in all he has to deliver 19 edits in 12 weeks making his jaunt something more akin to a marathon. “The trip has been quite hard work, no rest, editing on the road and organising the next leg whilst shooting the current one and promoting the previous episodes.” Phew.
