Is This The World’s First Heated Wetsuit?

by on Tuesday 5th August, 2008   1933 Views

In Winter 2008 Tiki will release their first heated wetsuit. The idea for a heated suit has been around for some time but their solution is beautifully simple allowing them to bring their first production into this winter’s range.

Tiki Prodigy Heated Wetsuit

At the centre of the concept is a whole new model in the Tiki line up. The PRODIGY is a chest zip suit, a highly refined version with significantly greater flexibility than most designs. In the lumbar region they have integrated a system of removeable re-usable heat pads. These can be activated while in the water when the winter chill starts to set in. The extra warmth in the crucial kidney area gives up to an hour of added surfing time.

After a year of focussed quality tests Tiki have the highest grade espan extend neoprene they’ve ever seen and seams which are taped by hand. This combines to make a very high-end wetsuit in anyone’s books. By combining this performance design with the highest grade materials AND a heating system, the concept of performance surfing in sub 10 degrees water becomes a reality, and the idea of teeth chattering surfs a thing of the past. And the best thing of all they have kept it within the realms of affordability - the Heated 6/5/4 with Hood will RRP at £239 and additional heat pad packs are available at £5.

As a British company Tiki have always focussed our development on cold water surfing. The introduction of an affordable heated wetsuit is a break through innovation and Tiki wetsuits are proud to pioneer this technology.

The Tiki PRODIGY heated wetsuit is available in a hooded 6/5/4 and a 5/4/3. Check the website for details: www.tikisurf.co.uk
